First, I'd like to thank $kay for authorship and say an official HEY GUYS to Oppo. Now, onto business, a buddy of mine came across the following listing. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

First off is the asking price is around what NADAguides suggests so that's possibly a plus. He went to see it earlier and has two main concerns, one being paint bubbles (presumably this car has been repainted at some point in the past and possibly not by the most qualified people) possibly concealing rust. Seems like a fair concern to me, what do you guys think?

The second concern:

Kinja'd!!!

That is the windshield, any input or ideas as to what form of butchery has taken place here and if it warrants walking away from this otherwise beautiful 240?

Any input or ideas shared are greatly apprecited. For your time, have a '32 Ford and a Packard that show up every now and then at my office:

That's a biiiig red flag right there. Something got messed up with what was probably a windshield replacement. Now that isn't the problem in itself; a little silicone could seal that up if you wanted a cheap fix. The problem is elsewhere and where the water seeped into and what kind of rust havoc it caused in hard to reach/ hardly seen areas.

Suggest that, as part of the inspection before he buys, swing by a body shop and get a pro's opinion. What makes me nervous is that gap - badly installed windshield?

agreed, that appears to be the main concern...not that it couldn't be easily and cheaply fixed, it's just a matter of what has happened as a result of that gap...and there's no way he'd buy without a full look over

Thanks for the input, the fixing it isn't really a huge concern it's exactly what you said, what other problems has it caused. If he's really interested it's going straight to a mechanic before the buy.

I have been so far away from that sort of thing for so long ... wonder what stripping the body, filling, then a respray costs?

I've seen quotes from $2500 all the way to $15,000. It really depends on the car itself and where you take it.

Know it. Live it. Be it.

All joking aside, use one of these in the area (as well as on the rest of the car) to see what you are dealing with. That *may* just be a poor weatherstripping job but you never know.
